13 Horror Movies to Watch this Season
This post was written by Emmanuel Carrillo.
Yeah, I know, a bit late, but there’s really never a wrong time to watch horror movies. Here’s a list of thirteen* personal favorites in no particular order:
Midsommar: For anyone looking to share a moment of psychedelic catharsis with a group of cultish strangers.
Hellraiser: If you read Foucalt and thought, “Yeah, I’d love a risqué occult version of this philosophy” then this is the movie for you.
Hereditary: We all have demons in our family lines…some more so than others.
Night of the Living Dead: Are you wanting to promote social justice and maybe fight off some flesh-eating zombies? Have I got a movie for you.
Nosferatu: “If that was you on the phone and you on the bus, then who was flickering the lights?”
The Witch: Tired of your puritan mom and dad ruining your teen years by isolating you from the rest of the colony? Get ready to sign your name in the Little Black Book.
Carrie: Ah yes, teenage vengeance.
The Blair Witch Project: The OG found footage film and one of the first (maybe first idk) alternate reality online marketing campaigns.
The Babadook: Think twice the next time you take a free book.
Poltergeist: Are you a yuppy suburbanite with a fondness for neoliberal economics? Come on in!
The Shining: A failed writer hit with paranormal cabin fever, a telekinetic child, and a loving mother and wife caught in the middle… directed by Kubrick!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: For the lover of road-trips and DIY crafts.
Get Out: “Get out!”
