Week in Review: Pipe Bombs, World Series, and J.B. Pritzker

1. Law Enforcement intercepted 13 pipe bombs sent to top Democrats and vocal Trump critics. Floridian Cesar Sayoc was arrested earlier today for creating and sending these bombs. The packages containing the pipe bombs were addressed to Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and others. Kathy Gilsinan , of The Atlantic, wrote an interesting piece about this case and the definition of terrorism. Officials have been slow to call this event a terrorist attack, but, as Gilsinan argues, if this isn’t terrorism, what is? You can read more here.
2. The Boston Red Sox have a two-game lead against the Los Angeles Dodgers going into the third game of the World Series tonight. Tonight’s game will be the first in LA, as the Dodgers look to make a comeback. Walker Buehler is starting for LA while Rick Porcello is Sox’s starter. LA will have to win four over the next five games in order to win their first championship in 30 years. The Red Sox only lost four times in five games once this season. You can read more here.
3. Illinois politics has reached new heights with this gubernatorial race. Democratic nominee J.B. Pritzker has spent $161.5 million of his own money on his campaign. $80 million of that has been spent on digital and TV advertising. Illinois residents are probably not too surprised to hear this considering the amount of times we see his face on TV. To put Pritzker’s spending in perspective, Donald Trump spent $66 million of his own money for his presidential campaign.
